Production History
Songs From The Tall Grass made its world premiere at the historic Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC in the spring of 2001 where it ran for over three months to rave reviews and nightly standing ovations. A fitting place for Songs From The Tall Grass to begin its own historic journey, Ford's Theatre is known around the world as the place President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. While always associated with the Civil War, in Lincoln's own writings, it was the Homestead Act of 1862 he most wanted to be remembered for. It was an honor for Songs From The Tall Grass to find its stately beginnings in the theater so deeply associated with Lincoln's legacy.
